Proportions.
Proportions of a garment in fashion technical drawings cannot be distorted in any way.
Proportions must be depicted strictly in accordance with actual human body. No stylization, no exaggeration, or any distortion is allowed. Unlike in fashion illustration, where stylization is permissible and in many cases desirable, in fashion flats garment must be depicted as is.
To achieve this authenticity of proportions a croquis needs to be used for drawing fashion flats. This what croquis is for: to give a guidelines for a proper proportions in flats.
A croquis for technical drawing must meet certain standards (please read about requirements for a fashion flat croquis) to ensure that proper proportion could be achieved by using such croquis.
Follow certain rules when using croquis to ensure that proper proportion could be achieved (please read about how to use croquis for fashion technical drawing).
The drawing can be either enlarged or reduced in size after a flat is completely finished with all proportions preserved. However, this scaling of finished drawing must be done proportionally without any distortions
